The Mud Show Diaries

Because of my friends Lucky Eddie and Miss Vickie, I've started following "The Mud Show Diaries", a blog about life on the road in a small traveling circus. This circus is the Kelly Miller Circus.

Following this large extended family appeals to me because of my vagabond years as a cruising sailor. When we go to the circus, we are entertained, we enjoy, we go home. Rarely do we think about how life is on the road, who puts up the tents, how are the monumental logistics of moving something this big every day accomplished. Who are the people who make up this mud show?

Valérie Berta Torales gives us an eloquent picture of those very things, plus life on the road with a young family. This is a must follow.

Oh...I can feel the grit and the wet and the determination in that pic alone.

A whole other world.

Or is it?

Thanks for sharing that cool blog.

Speaking of behind the scenes of traveling shows, did you read 'Water For Elephants' by Sara Gruen?

Highly recommended. A poignant story about a circus and it's people in the early 20th century.
